Here are some guidelines to consider while developing your workshop ideas:
Define Clear Objectives: Ensure your workshop has well-defined objectives for the skills you intend to teach. Ask yourself, "After this workshop, what will participants have learned?"
Evaluate Infrastructure and Equipment Needs: Take into account the specific requirements of your workshop location. Some spaces are indoors, some outdoors, and they may vary in amenities like tables, chairs, electricity, or a small kitchen. We have access to many facilities and equipment around town, let us know what you need in advance!
Manage Attendance Numbers: Determine if your workshop has a minimum or maximum participant requirement. Plan the workshop structure to accommodate varying attendee numbers, as workshops can range from just a couple of participants to over 20.
Prepare Materials: Identify the materials you'll need and assess their accessibility and cost. Workshop leaders can be reimbursed for materials, but our budget is small, so keep that in mind if you need to be reimbursed. We also need to know in advance if that is the case. Please email us at [email protected] if you will need to be reimbursed.
Ensure Accessibility: Make sure you clearly communicate in your workshop description if the skill you offer has an age or ability limitation. If you don't, we will assume it is for all ages and all abilities, and will advertise it as such.
Foster Inclusivity: Consider the potential impact of your workshop topic on people with diverse perspectives and backgrounds. Strive to create a safe and inclusive environment, presenting your topic in a way that encourages curiosity and learning.
Please note that the organizing team is committed to facilitating positive outcomes and ensuring safety for all community members during workshops. Their goal is to support workshop leaders in sharing their skills while minimizing potential conflicts. We will be around to help if you need it! Just ask :)
